I feel like Shanks is one of those characters you will see fight once and it'll be very underwhelming. People always gonna throw it at ''his haki is the best of everyone, it's undefeated'' yet we've never seen him use it at anything other than crack Whitebeard's ship. This story isn't real - it was written by a man. Character appearances have a purpose, and Oda has made it very clear that every time Shanks appears it's to show how, despite everything we just saw, he is still at the top of the world waiting for Luffy even without a devil fruit. Every high status character that mentions him has a clear respect for him.

From what we know of the OP world, how could he have maintained assaults on his emperor status for years and done all these things without an unusually impressive mastery of haki? To assume otherwise is not critical thinking, it's excessively skeptical thinking.
